KATHMANDU – A 73-year-old Nepali man passed away in an unconscious state mid-air while traveling from the United States to Kathmandu.
The Deceased
The passenger has been identified as Shyam Marhattha, a local resident of Barpak Sulikot Rural Municipality-2 in the Gorkha district. Marhattha was returning to Nepal from America alongside his family members.
Flight and Incident Details
The incident occurred aboard Turkish Airlines flight TK-726. The flight, which transits via Istanbul, landed at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu at approximately 6:35 AM on Sunday.
According to airport authorities, Marhattha was found completely unresponsive and unconscious as the aircraft arrived. On-site medical personnel examined him immediately upon landing and officially confirmed his death.
Ongoing Legal Procedures
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Basanta Rajoure of the Airport Security Office stated that the police have taken custody of the deceased to fulfill standard legal and investigative protocols.
The body has been transported to the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj, Kathmandu. A post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of his sudden passing.
