According to a press release by Singapore Airlines, Malaysia Airlines and Singapore Airlines have officially operationalized their strategic joint business partnership by launching new joint fare products for travel between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. This rollout marks the first major milestone since the commercial partnership was formalized in January 2026, following regulatory approvals from the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore and the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia. Built on top of their existing codeshare agreements, these new joint fares aim to provide travelers with a wider variety of pricing options, greater flexibility, and smoother transit options between the two Southeast Asian capital cities.
According to Singapore Airlines, passengers will experience a more seamless travel experience when connecting across the combined global networks of both national flag carriers. The airlines are also actively working on rolling out additional perks in phases, which include reciprocal airport lounge access for eligible passengers, coordinated flight schedules for better timing options, and joint corporate travel arrangements for business clients. Bryan Foong, Chief Executive Officer of Airline Business for Malaysia Aviation Group, noted that the introduction of joint fare products gives customers greater choice and lays the foundation for deeper integration across their networks.
Lee Lik Hsin, Chief Commercial Officer of Singapore Airlines, stated that the introduction of these joint fare products expands the range of options available to customers while strengthening long-standing trade links and people-to-people connections. According to Singapore Airlines, this milestone is the next evolution of a commercial cooperation framework agreement originally signed by the two airlines in October 2019. It expands on their existing partnerships, which already include linked codeshare routes spanning Malaysia, Singapore, Europe, and South Africa, as well as reciprocal frequent flyer point accrual and redemption benefits between SIA's KrisFlyer and Malaysia Airlines' Enrich programs.
