Emirates is gearing up for one of its busiest periods of the year for its Unaccompanied Minors Service as the summer holiday season officially kicks off. Over the next two weeks, the Dubai-based airline expects to welcome more than 3,500 children traveling independently. This seasonal surge highlights a broader long-term trend, with Emirates having safely escorted more than 250,000 young solo travelers over the last five years. The vast majority of these independent flyers are 11 years old or under, with the highest traffic volume concentrated on routes connecting Dubai to the UK, Russia, Kenya, France, India, and Egypt.

To manage the heavy summer demand and alleviate parental anxiety, Emirates has recently upgraded its specialized infrastructure at Dubai International Airport (DXB) Terminal 3. Families start their journey at a newly renovated, fully supervised Unaccompanied Minors Lounge located near the check-in area. This dedicated, private space is equipped with comfortable sofas, complimentary snacks, drinks, free Wi-Fi, and children's bathrooms. To keep younger travelers entertained before boarding, the airline has also outfitted the lounge with upgraded entertainment systems, including the latest PlayStation 5 Pro gaming consoles.

The airline enforces strict rules to maintain safety throughout the journey, making the service mandatory for children aged 5 to 12 who are traveling completely alone. Guardians dropping their children off at DXB must provide valid identification and complete formal paperwork, after which an Emirates specialist accompanies the child through security, immigration, and directly to the aircraft door. For teenagers aged 12 to 15, parents can choose to let them fly independently or opt into a special "Young Passenger" supervision service for a fee of USD $50 per flight. Families looking to utilize these services are reminded that bookings must be completed at least 24 hours prior to departure through Emirates' customer service channels.
