Following the decision by the Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) to hike aviation fuel prices, domestic airfares across Nepal have increased due to an adjustment in fuel surcharges. Effective from Monday (Saun 18 / August 2026), the price of domestic aviation turbine fuel was raised by Rs 20 per liter, taking the market price of aviation fuel to Rs 290 per liter.

In response to the fuel price revision, domestic airline

 

operators—with approval from the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN)—have implemented a higher fuel surcharge component on domestic flights, which is added directly to passenger ticket prices.

The airfare increases vary depending on the destination and flight distance:

  • Kathmandu–Dhangadhi (the longest domestic route) saw the highest fare increase, with the fuel surcharge rising by Rs 880.

  • Kathmandu–Simara (the shortest route) experienced the lowest hike, increasing by Rs 183.

  • Other routes from Kathmandu also saw upward revisions, including Mountain Flights (+Rs 688) and Kathmandu–Bhadrapur (+Rs 560).

As a result of these adjustments, domestic air travel in Nepal has become more expensive for travelers across all destinations.
