Following the devastating floods and severe landslides in Rasuwa that caused widespread disruption to Nepal’s highway networks and ground transport infrastructure, Buddha Air, the country's largest domestic airline, has officially announced that it will keep airfares at minimum rates until key road corridors are restored. Severe highway damage left air travel as the primary option for long-distance transport, causing a dramatic surge in demand across domestic airport networks. Rather than raising ticket prices under dynamic pricing models during this high-demand period, Buddha Air opted to maintain affordable rates for the public, currently flying over 10,000 passengers daily across various regional routes.

Addressing the financial implications of this measure, Buddha Air’s Executive Chairman, Birendra Bahadur Basnet, stated that keeping fares capped at lower threshold tiers will result in a projected loss exceeding NPR 600 million (60 crore rupees) for the airline during the current fiscal year. Despite the heavy revenue trade-off, the airline emphasized its role in facilitating essential connectivity while ground networks remain impaired. Beyond absorbing these operational losses, Buddha Air actively contributed to humanitarian efforts by transporting 6,420 kilograms of emergency relief materials completely free of charge to affected regional destinations, ensuring critical aid reached victims of the flood disaster.
