NEW DELHI, Oct. 15, 2026: Air India has announced plans to launch four weekly nonstop flights between New Delhi and Osaka, Japan, beginning February 2, 2027, expanding its international network and strengthening direct air connectivity between India and Japan.
The new service will connect Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) with Kansai International Airport (KIX) in Osaka using the airline’s Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner.
Air India will become the only airline operating nonstop flights between Delhi and Osaka, according to the airline. Osaka will also become Air India’s second destination in Japan after Tokyo Haneda.
Four Weekly Delhi–Osaka Flights
The new service will operate under flight numbers AI360 and AI359.
AI360 will depart Delhi at 10:50 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, arriving in Osaka at 9:50 a.m. the following day.
The return flight, AI359, will depart Osaka at 11:50 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, arriving in Delhi at 6:20 p.m. the same day.
Air India Delhi–Osaka schedule:
| Flight | Route | Departure | Arrival | Days |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AI360 | Delhi–Osaka | 22:50 | 09:50 (+1) | Tue, Thu, Sat, Sun |
| AI359 | Osaka–Delhi | 11:50 | 18:20 | Mon, Wed, Fri, Sun |
All timings are local, with the outbound service arriving in Osaka the following calendar day.
Boeing 787-8 to Operate the Route
Air India will deploy its Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner on the new route. The aircraft will feature 18 Business Class seats with full-flat beds and 241 Economy Class seats, giving the aircraft a total capacity of 259 passengers.
The overnight Delhi–Osaka schedule is designed to provide convenient travel between the two cities while also supporting connections through Air India’s wider domestic and international network.
Osaka Expands Air India’s Japan Network
The addition of Osaka will expand Air India’s presence in Japan beyond Tokyo.
The airline currently operates daily flights from Delhi to Tokyo Haneda as well as four weekly flights from Mumbai to Tokyo. The Osaka service will provide another direct gateway for Indian travellers visiting western Japan.
The route is also expected to benefit travellers visiting popular destinations such as Kyoto and Nara, which are easily accessible from the Kansai region.
Air India says the new service will also allow passengers to create open-jaw itineraries, such as flying from Delhi to Osaka and returning to India from Tokyo, or travelling in the opposite direction.
This could make multi-city trips along Japan’s popular Tokyo–Kyoto–Osaka Golden Route easier for Indian travellers.
Growing Demand for Japan Travel
The new route comes as demand for travel between India and Japan continues to grow.
According to the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), more than 315,000 Indian visitors travelled to Japan in 2025, representing a 35 percent increase from the previous year and nearly 80 percent above pre-pandemic levels.
Growing interest in Japanese tourism, cuisine and culture, along with expanding business and people-to-people ties between India and Japan, has contributed to the increase.
Air India’s new Delhi–Osaka service will provide an additional nonstop option for passengers while strengthening the airline’s position in the growing India–Japan market.
Bookings for the new flights are being progressively opened through Air India’s website, mobile application, customer contact centre, airport ticketing offices and travel agents worldwide.
