KATHMANDU, Nepal

A Buddha Air flight operating from Kathmandu to Janakpur was forced to return to Kathmandu shortly after takeoff on Monday morning following a technical issue related to the aircraft’s landing gear system.

The flight departed from Tribhuvan International Airport at approximately 7:05 a.m. local time. Shortly after departure, the flight crew detected an indication of a landing gear-related problem and decided to discontinue the flight as a precaution.

The aircraft subsequently returned to Kathmandu and made a safe emergency landing at Tribhuvan International Airport. Airport spokesperson Sanjay Kumar confirmed that the aircraft landed safely and that the situation remained under control throughout the incident.

All passengers and crew members were reported safe, with no injuries.

According to airport authorities, technical teams are conducting further inspections to determine the exact cause of the issue. Buddha Air is also arranging alternative transportation for affected passengers to continue their journey to Janakpur.

Further details are expected following the completion of the airline’s technical assessment.
