KATHMANDU — Nepal Airlines has started the process of selecting an international maintenance company to carry out a full overhaul of the engines on its wide-body aircraft.

The state-owned carrier said preparatory work is under way for the scheduled maintenance, with about a year remaining before the engines are due for overhaul. A seven-member sub-committee has been formed to prepare and finalise the international tender documents to select a Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) provider.

According to Nepal Airlines, the tender preparation and invitation process has reached its final stage, and a public notice is expected to be issued within the next few days.

The airline said the selection process is being conducted in line with Nepal’s public procurement laws, established procedures and international aviation standards.

Nepal Airlines operates wide-body aircraft on its long-haul international routes, and timely engine overhauls are considered critical to ensuring flight safety, reliability and operational continuity.
